Keeping It Green

Our game-changer Geared TurbofanTM engines mark not only a key milestone for commercial air travel but also a major advance in providing cleaner, greener and quieter air transport. They cut fuel consumption (and therefore carbon emissions) by 16 percent, reduce regulated emissions by 50 percent and lower the noise footprint by 75 percent. The reduction in emissions will allow airlines to avoid 160 million tons of CO2 emissions through to 2025 and cut carbon emissions by more than 3,600 metric tons.

Besides achieving a greener footprint with our products, we are likewise committed to minimizing our impact on the environment at all of our global facilities. Having achieved our 2015 sustainability goals companywide, we are resolved to achieve our 2025 sustainability goals amidst an unprecedented production increase.

As we ramp up our jet engine production over the next five to 10 years, we will continue to take steps to maximize sustainability, maintain compliance and leave a smaller environmental footprint. These include reducing greenhouse gas emissions and water consumption and leaving zero landfill waste.
